Controversial street pop singer Habeeb Olalomi, better known as Portable, has faced severe backlash after making contentious remarks about ongoing protests in Nigeria.
In a video that quickly spread online, Portable claimed that there were no protests in Sango, Ogun State, where he lives. He argued that previous demonstrations had been ignored by the government, leading him and others in his area to focus on their daily routines instead.
These comments did not sit well with many of his fans. Within 12 hours of posting the video, Portable lost 100,000 Instagram followers, according to reports. Many fans warned they would unfollow him, and many more followed through on that promise. Additionally, more fans have pledged to unfollow him if he continues to make similar statements.
Portable had previously stirred controversy by comparing himself to billionaire Aliko Dangote and describing protests as activities meant for the poor. This history of provocative remarks has contributed to the current backlash and significant loss of followers
